Year To Date through Mar. 2008 Area: Chicago & Suburban Type: Attached - The residential market in Chicago and suburbs for attached single family homes has seen a 15.8% increase in the Average Sale Price for the year 2008 versus 2007, from $274,390 in '07 up to $317,633 in '08. The Median Sale Price for attached housing rose 8.6% from $222,900 in '07 to $242,000 in '08. The Number of Houses Sold throughout the Chicago metropolitan area has fallen from 8,051 units in 2007 to 5,688 units in 2008, a -29.4% decline in volume. These statistics were provided using data from the Multiple Service of Northern Illinois and were compiled by the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors, of which Paul Piekos is a member. The Median Sale Price for detached housing declined -7.1% from $255,000 in Mar. '07 to $237,000 in Mar. '08. The Number of Houses Sold throughout the Chicago metropolitan area has fallen from 3,822 units in March 2007 to 2,655 units in March 2008, a -30.5% decline in volume. Month To Date: Mar. 2008 Area: Chicago & Suburban Type: Attached - The residential market in Chicago and the suburbs for attached (Condo/Townhouse) style homes has seen a 14.1% increase in the Average Sale Price for the month of March versus March 2007, from $272,134 in '07 to $310,541 in '08. The Median Sale Price for attached housing rose 11.1% from $225,000 in Mar. '07 to $250,000 in Mar. '07. The Number of Houses Sold throughout the Chicago metropolitan area has dropped from 3,347 units in March 2007 to 2,417 units in February 2008, a -27.8% decrease in volume.
